On the Watertown Seal is a picture of an English Colonist and an Indian exchanging, as peace tokens,  bread for fish.  Captain Roger Clap landed at Nantasket Point in 1630 and rode up Charles River to Gerry's Landing with the first party of Watertown Colonists.

Zoning

The Zoning Board of Appeals consists of five members and two alternate members appointed to a 5 year term by the Town Manager and subject to Town Council confirmation.  The Zoning Board of Appeals' primary function is to act on all discretionary permits which include Special Permits (except those located in the Pleasant Street Corridor District), Special Permit Findings and Variance requests.  The board meets monthly on the fourth Wednesday of the month, unless otherwise noticed.  The links below provide more information:
